Global positioning systems or GPS units have become extremely popular electronic devices the world over. With the functionality of these guiding and tracking systems, its' easy to understand why that have been received so well by the public. GPS users have the ability to see exactly where they are going and where they started from and can easily eliminate any wasted time getting off track or lost or taking the longer route.

Top manufacturers provide different types of GPS systems and several models of each for consumers to be able to choose from for there individual needs. For cheap GPS systems with brand names such as Garmin and Lowrance and Furuno at discount prices, the only thing left for the consumer to decide on is what type of cheap GPS system would meet there individual needs.

Travlers for instance can use an auto GPS unit to map out the shortest distance to there destination and provide turn by turn navigation. Handheld GPS units are smaller and more portable for tracking and guidance purposes and can easily travel anywhere the user does. Running GPS units, hunting, hiking, biking, golfing, and marine hand held GPS units are just some of the different units available today.

Fitness GPS units are becoming quite popular, in particular running GPS devices. These units give runners a wealth of information such as pace, speed, distance, calories burned, heart rate, and some models can actually record up to two years of lap times for runners or walkers to be able to track there progress and fine tune there individual fitness goals.

Marine GPS systems are a perennial favorite for fisherman, boaters, and sailors for it's ability to provide incredibly accurate navigational assistance on water. There are both handheld GPS devices and larger types such as a chartplotter unit or a fishfinding sounder. Chart plotter and fish finder combos are exceedingly popular for possessing the dual ability to not only assist people with navigation but can also find the fish with a built in fish finder sounder. Or if marine GPS navigation is all that is required, a chart plotter can provide that easily enough on it’s own without a built in fish finder. Or vice versa, with anglers simply needing a fish finder without navigation.

Whether traveling by truck, car, bicycle, motorcycle, water, or by foot. There are so many great GPS units to choose from on the market today that there is most likely a GPS unit that almost anyone could benefit from.
