GPS Fleet Tracking Is Easy

GPS fleet tracking has never been easier for people and businesses of all levels to use. With all the breakthroughs in computer technology over the past several decades, the cost of making the hardware involved has plummeted. This shift in pricing has opened the door for the use of GPS tracking devices for fleet use an extremely viable option for businesses of all sizes. All a company must have is a fleet of vehicles as large as a single truck, car, or van and they can see almost immediate returns on their initial investment.

In addition to the cheaper prices when it comes to hardware, the software used by businesses to interact with their GPS tracking data has improved dramatically as well. Before only large companies could afford the expensive and cumbersome set up that many fleet tracking providers had to use. But with the growth of the World Wide Web and the uptake of personal computers the majority of tracking software is now completely web based. You do not even need to learn very many new skills to be able to make use of the power at your finger tips. Most tracking platforms work just like popular mapping applications that can be found online. If you want to gain travel safety ,maybe GPS tracker can help you.

Since GPS fleet tracking is so cheap and so viable for business of all sizes it is very interesting that more companies do not make use of this technology to streamline their business operations, reduce costs, and improve the number of service calls made. When the life-blood of your business if in your fleet, you need to take advantage of every possible opportunity to maximize the returns on your investments.

By installing some specialized GPS tracking devices that are designed specifically for fleet management purposes the business can get a better idea where their vans are when they are out on call. This means that as new calls come in for service they can make better use of their agents on the field by sending the closest plumber to the job. This plumber will also have very good directions to his new job just because the GPS tracking device will show him exactly where he needs to go.

The two GPS fleet tracking technologies involved in any system are probably going to GPS and GSM. These are responsible for the location finding capability of the device and for its ability to transmit the data in real time wirelessly. There are a lot of different applications for this technology, including bus GPS fleet tracking.

All about GPS Tracking

The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a global navigation satellite system (GNSS) developed by the United States Department of Defense. It uses a constellation of between 24 and 32 Medium Earth Orbit satellites that transmit precise radio wave signals, allowing GPS receivers to determine their current location, the time, and their velocity. A GPS tracking unit is a device that uses the Global Positioning System to determine the precise location of a vehicle, person, or other asset to which it is attached and to record the position of the asset at regular intervals. The recorded location data can be stored within the tracking unit, or it may be transmitted to a central location data base, or internet-connected computer, using a cellular (GPRS), radio, or satellite modem embedded in the unit. This allows the asset’s location to be displayed against a map backdrop either in real-time or when analysing the track later, using customized software. A GPS receiver calculates its position by precisely timing the signals sent by the GPS satellites high above the Earth. Each satellite continually transmits messages containing the time the message was sent, precise orbital information (the ephemeris), and the general system health and rough orbits of all GPS satellites (the almanac). The receiver measures the transmit time of each message and computes the distance to each satellite. Geometric trilateration is used to combine these distances with the location of the satellites to determine the receiver’s location. The position is displayed, maybe with a moving map display or latitude and longitude; elevation information may be included. Many GPS units also show derived information such as direction and speed, calculated from position changes. In general, GPS receivers are composed of an antenna, tuned to the frequencies transmitted by the satellites, receiver-processors, and a highly-stable clock (often a crystal oscillator). They may include a display for providing location and speed information to the user as well. How to use web based GPS tracking? Once you register with the GPS service provider for the service, your vehicle(s) will be fitted with GPS / GPRS based Vehicle Mounted Hardware (VMH). After this, you might be given a user name and password to access your vehicle information and reports from the service provider’s website. A good service provider may also have a support desk in place, who will help you online and through phone.

With an online GPS tracking , you can get Real time vehicle information, do various analysis using historic data, define vehicle routes, alerts in case of unauthorised vehicle movements, receive email notification etc. This way, the GPS tracker will help you to manage your vehicles efficiently and cut down fuel expenses. It also makes the journey of your passengers safer to ensure you get travel safety .

Personal Tracking Devices

GPS tracking is now a common technology used in everyday life. In business, sport or domestic scenarios GPS tracking has entirely changed the way we live our lives. However, GPS Tracking has a very important role to play in Crisis Management. As the satellite technology is introduced into various devices, such as Maritime Tracking devices, Military Tracking Devices and Vehicle Tracking devices we can give central communication bases better intelligence to help our troops on the ground in high conflict, remote areas. Personal Tracking Devices can be used in everyday or some high risk situations. Consider remote aid workers for example who put themselves at risk just to help those less fortunate then ourselves. Remote aid workers put themselves in high risk situations in foreign lands to deliver food, act as peace keeping parties and helping to educate those in some 3rd world countries. A personal tracking device might be the difference between an aid worker surviving or losing their life in a conflict situation. Most personal tracking devices are small enough to be extremely discrete so as not to interfere with the primary tasks of the remote workers. They allow for the position of the worker to be tracked through a central management team, but also offer the remote worker with a panic alert facility so if they enter a hostile environment they can alert the attention of the monitoring team. Because personal tracking devices use GPS (Satellite) they are ideal for remote locations in which cell phone technology just wouldn’t work. This means that they will work in even the most remote locations in, for example, Africa and Eastern Europe. Avoiding Crisis at all cost is a high priority, and through the use of inexpensive devices to help track employees you are able to avoid unnecessary injury, or even worse, loss of life. If you want to gain travel safety ,maybe GPS tracker can help you a lot.Of course Personal Tracking devices aren’t just for use in remote locations. Business travellers and VIP’s can also make use of them to help aid security and close protection teams. They are multi-functional devices that could be used for everyday use, sporting events and travellers.
