Tracking Software – You May Need One

Have you ever noticed that there isn’t anyone you know who has not heard of a mobile phone or who does not own one? Less than a decade ago, GPS tracking devices weren’t known to the world except in the military. Tracking military units and enemy targets was the primary usage of these devices before. However, these days, there are lots of GPS tracking devices especially for vehicles. Even mobile companies are adding GPS tracking features in their services. This means that anyone who allows himself or herself to be monitored will be monitored by one who is tracking through the use of a mobile phone.

Though this illustration may seem sad and scary at the same time, it’s actually happening. My friend got pregnant by his first boyfriend that’s why they had an early marriage. Her only problem was that she didn’t trust her man enough so she decided to track him through his mobile phone. This is probably not a good example for other wives out there because trust should be essential to a relationship no matter what happens. But my friend, when she decided to track her husband, ended up knowing the truth – her husband was cheating on her. The device can bring about pain and heartaches though at times these can be very useful.

The more pertinent use of these devices are for business reasons. Businesses like those involved in rent-a-car can find this technology to be very useful since this can allow them to monitor all their vehicles and avoid abuses on their cards. Banks can also use this by tracking their vehicles that transport cash from one branch to another. In a more personal matter, parents may find this tool very useful to track their teenage child while they are out partying with friends or if they haven’t been home for a couple of days.

There is also another type of tracking software which does not monitor physical or geographical locations. Rather, this software is used for monitoring bureaucratic processes. These tracking devices are very popular to businessmen who are constantly away for business trips. They use these applications to monitor the flow of operations in his company while he is away. This can be able to give him an overview of the daily flow of sales, invoices sent, payments made, thus, allowing him to see whether there are irregularities or discrepancies in his company as far as daily operations are concerned.

This means that using this software will give you the opportunity to still be part of your company’s daily operation without being physically present at the office. By doing this, you can enjoy your vacations because you know that you still know what’s happening and you are still in control even from afar.

Put an end to inaccurate time estimates and suspicions when dispatching your trucks and equipment. Intermodal dispatch software or transportation software is specifically created to put you in control even when you’re holed up in your office while your trucks roll away.

Garmin Nuvi 1300 Reviews

I can't tell you how happy I am to be back to a Navtech based device. While TeleAtlas certainlny has come a long way, it's still not as accurate as Navtech. I still have two of my TeleAtlas based units(Mio and TomTom) and have done a series of comparisons between the 1300 and the others, with the Garmin Nuvi 1300 being the most accurate. The Navigon actually has free map updates and is running the very latest maps, but still falls short in comparison.

Radio Marine GPS Systems Receivers

Radio marine GPS systems are satellite powered radio signals that has two kinds of transmissions, the C/A code and the P – code.Coarse Acquisition or C/A is the kind of signal that is used in Standard Positioning Service. One advantage of C/A signal is that it takes less time to affix a specific location because it can acquire signals faster. The C/A signal is commonly used by military forces to send out spoofs and jam other radio signals. The second type of signal on the other hand, is the P – code that is able to provide precise locations and is difficult to either jam or spoof. The military again is the common and primary users of the P – code signal because of its encryption capability that only specially designed and programmed receivers can decipher the data transmitted. In radio gps technology, P – code signals are also known as Precise Positioning System. These two radio gps signals are widely used in practically every piece of mobile electronics, cars, business phone systems and sometimes even high end appliances.

Radio marine gps systems receivers require its data to come from several satellites in order to locate the user of the GPS.In order to triangulate the specific location, the radio gps receiver requires three satellite signals and then four satellite signals to triangulate the specific location and give out the coordinates in terms of latitude, longitude and elevation. There are five different classifications of radio gps receivers such as commercial or transportation, government or military models, mapping and resource and survey. For logistics and transportation businesses that control and make use of a fleet of vehicles, the consumer model type of gps receiver is highly popular.Although a lot of people also prefer such kind of radio gps for their personal use, especially parents who have young teenagers driving around in their own cars.

In today’s modern day demands, a radio gps is a very important tool for vehicle owners, most especiallyGPS technology is helpful especially for people who are on the road as the several satellites that orbit the earth can provide people with information about their exact location as well as the exact location of the place they want to go to.And this technology is also highly beneficial for commuters. When it comes to accuracy of the radio gps receivers, it can give highly accurate coordinates within fifteen meters. The receiver’s accuracy is affected by where it is located as well as by any obstruction that may block satellite signals. These radio gps models that are available for consumer use are highly accurate and can provide high value for your money.

Pocket PC GPS System The Finest Gadget To Have

A PDA or personal digital assistant is often referred to as pocket PC GPS because it combines a Microsoft software for PDA and a GPS device. Although Palms are considered easier to use, and have more accessories, pocket PC systems have a reputation of superior functionality. The Bluetooth technology, the compact flash, the GPS cabling and the integrated features, all define a Pocket PC GPS in the most rewarding way possible. Each of these elements can influence the efficiency of the whole, and therefore, they deserve separate investigations.

Without an external compact memory card, the GPS unit will consume the battery power of the Pocket PC GPS and make it inoperable. Moreover, The association of the GPS memory card with the PDA could make the operational system slower in terms of task response. There follows the Bluetooth technology that, if incorporated, saves the problem of cables. A hand-held PDA could be easily linked to the GPS receiver in the backpack. From this perspective, the Pocket PC GPS brings superior flexibility particularly since for car usage, a clear view of the sky is a must.

If the Pocket PC GPS does not have a Bluetooth feature, it is pretty expensive to operate the changes and get one. Even so, many people consider the investment worth making. The Pocket PC allows for connection with a car-powered GPS unit. Cheaper than the self standing GPS units, these GPS receivers are known as mouse-type. It has another advantage too, that of saving the battery power of the Pocket PC by the possibility to be directly powered from the car batter. The problem with such a combination of Pocket PC GPS comes from its limitation to in-car usage alone.

For very diverse GPS usage select a hand-held navigation system receiver that can be linked with the Pocket PC with a cable. This Pocket PC GPS combination is working great for out of the car usage. The hand-held receiver can be used separately or in combination with the PDA for map display. Despite the double gadget inconvenience, the combination is very useful for anyone who doesn’t afford something more sophisticated. Other than this handling difficulty, the Pocket PC with the included GPS device provide both good hardware options, Windows Mobile software and lots of mapping possibilities. The Pocket PC GPS unit of the future will share all these features in one unit alone.

Garmin Nuvi 260W (Factory Reburbished)

PROS: Screen clarity, fast satellite acquisition, QWERTY keyboard, auto dims screen for nighttime, auto sets the clock.

CONS: No USB cable or home charger provided. However, available on EBay & Amazon for very few dollars!

I started a search for a replacement GPS in January ‘08 and had narrowed the field to the Nuvi 255W or the Garmin 260W Refurbished to replace my decrepit TomTom Go 700 for many reasons. I read all of the internet reviews: CNET, Amazon, EBay!, gpstracker & decided the 260W was the choice on 12/30/09 from Amazon. I received it 1/6/10- far faster than the 1/15 projected arrival date!

It wouldn’t boot out the box (1/2 hour of charge fixed that!) but, I connected Garmin Nuvi  260W Refurbished to my computer, went to [...] registered it, updated the software from the ‘Dashboard’, followed the instructions to update my maps (@ 1.25 hours on highspeed cable connection), added a few vehicles & voices and went to the car. If plugged in, it starts with the car, grabs satellites in under 20 seconds, set my ‘Home’ location & loaded several favorites.

Very impressed with screen clarity & brightness, unsure how I survived without streets & turns being announced before (TTS), very intuitive interface, easy to input addresses with my fat fingers, POI’s are accurate but slow to load & sound quality is clear @ 70% volume when driving.

My 84 year old mother would be able to use this newfangled technology right out of the box (however, I would have update software and load the newest maps for her 1st!) and even she would be able to follow the prompts, put in addresses & even use the POI database! Very basic (no mp3’s, traffic updates, etc…) but, it does have a picture viewer, a calculator (fuel ecomony), a currency convertor and other useful tools. Garmin’s webpage is not the easiest to navigate, but there are free vehicles (tank, motorcycles, ambulance…) as well as free voices (squirrelly, the Yeti) and others that can be purchased. Still trying to figure out how to load speed zones & camera speed traps, but very workable!

In conclusion, if you are looking to upgrade without all of the bells & whistles, Garmin 260W Refurbished may be the best value on the market today. It is night & day when compared to the TomTom Go 700 and at just over $100.00, it isn’t too hard on your wallet either! I would give it 95 out of 100- only missing the charger & the computer cable!

What people say about TOMTOM XL 340S

One satiesfied customer said :

I’m pretty tech savvy and have used different GPS devices in the past. I chose Tomtom over Garmin mainly due to tomtom HOME support, better user interface: tomtom has more info on the screen including the street name you’re driving on.

Most negative reviews here are from issues updating map which is larger than the old one (about 5 Mb larger) and causes error.
but it’s simple to go around it.

1. connect to home computer. turn the unit on. select Yes to connect. Tomtom Home will install on your computer.
2. on Tomtom HOME menu, go to “Manage my ONE XL”. On Items on Device, click voices. you can back up then delete all foreign computer voices (recorded voice files are small, so doesn’t matter). just keep DAVE, and Susan computer voices( you need at least one computer voice for spoken street names). You should free up about 130 Mb (much more than you need)
3. now you can update new map with no problem. it does take a long time. after you’re done, you still have 125 Mb extra to download customized items, map corrections in the future. customized car symbols are really cool, as are start up and shut down images. these customized items and map corrections are so small: tiny to 0.5 Mb that with > 125 Mb free, you can keep
