I’ve been using my forerunner 405cx for about 3 weeks and absolutely love it. As with others who reviewed it I do find the bezel a bit finicky but I don’t usually try to change settings mid run. I have it set to scroll thru speed / distance/ heart rate while I’m running which is all I really need to see. I did change each screen to display only 2 items – otherwise the displayed items were too small for my aging eyes. I typically run for about an hour each day and the battery is fine even if I don’t put it on charge before next run. Longest run using the Garmin is just over 2 hours – no problem with battery. I rarely scroll back thru historic data. Instead I upload to Garmin Connect. Heart rate monitor is more consistent than my old polar which would seem to lose contact during run. One of the selling points was the virtual partner but I haven’t actually used it all that much. I intend to use it more however. I know its a bit of a “gadget” but that is actually a motivator to get me out the door. I find I run a little bit faster and a little bit farther since my forerunner is watching! Overall if “gadgets” keep you motivated to run and the cost doesn’t prohibit purchase I think its well worth the investment.
